The Driver Desk Officer, Dispatch, Road US plays a vital role in interacting with our drivers and our customers. They manage driver delivery schedules to ensure pickup/deliveries remain on schedule, while providing exceptional customer service and displaying professional communication skills at all times.


  • Manage driver delivery schedules, pick-ups and deliveries for a fleet of up to 50 drivers and trucks.
  • Manages employee retention, compliance and safety. Escalates issues to manager when appropriate.
  • Manage driver schedules and paperwork requirements; assigns start times, ensures trip reports are properly documented and match electronic logs.  Ensures BOLs are processed correctly.    
  • Schedules and communicates expectations to drivers.  Including: pick up/delivery time schedules/location and on time expectations.
  • Effectively Monitors Company utilization regarding assets: daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.
  • Provides clean, consistent, and professional communication to internal and external customers.
  • Independently manages and maintains all accessorial charges to schedule including, but not limited to company compensation programs. 
  • Utilize various sources of communication for scheduling; including: internet, e-mail and company satellite phone system.
  • Actively accepts accountability for tracking and communicating appropriate information related to customer loads and resolves problems.
  • Provides coverage for co-workers when necessary or instructed by management.
  • Arrives promptly and prepared to perform duties effectively.
  • Audit all documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Familiar with D.O.T. regulations and hours of service.
  • Exhibits exceptional skill regarding project management and problem solving skills.
  • Promotes the DSV Road brand.
  • Above all, leads by example, motivates and supports co-workers, Integrates and promotes the Company Values into daily actions and interactions (Integrity, Innovation, Teamwork, Dedication, and Respect).

  • Manages:  Job board of up to 50 Class A CDL Drivers, trucks, and trailers.


Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years’ experience in Dispatcher or similar role.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designation

  • NONE


Computer Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, WORD & Outlook)

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, and verbal).

Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate

  • Position requires highly developed organizational and people skills. 
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive business relationships with carriers, drivers and internal personnel.
  • Ability to coordinate, plan and route all inbound and outbound freight. 
  • Requires the ability to solve problems, dispatch trucks, track loads and provide excellent customer service. 
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple duties concurrently and maintain attention to detail.
  • Quality drive and results oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be a 'team player”
  • Working knowledge of material that the company handles and the services offered.
  • Must have availability to work a variety of shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays if a business need requires.


Education and/or Experience

  • Associates degree preferred
  • Intermodal transportation experience a plus.
  • 2-3 years Logistic industry or distribution industry a plus.
  • Prior experience with ICC software- AS/400.

May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.  Travel may be required for this role domestically.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
