Logistics Coordinator – Road Canada, Vancouver
Job Overview
Logistics Coordinator primary role is to handle all day-to-day operational elements of our customer’s needs. Seeks out the best methods to move the freight based on customer requirements. Requires flexibility and adaptability to work extended hours in order to meet work demands. Requires ability to organize and prioritize activities in order to complete tasks and assignments with a high degree of independence, in a timely/efficient manner. Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy.
Performs all necessary Import, Export and Domestic Transportation activities. Ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Transportation Department. To anticipate, identify and rectify any exceptions and to keep the customer informed at all times. Committed to achieving Transportation targets in a timely fashion while focusing on continuous improvement.
The Logistics Coordinator Role will report into the Vancouver Branch Manager.
Main Responsibilities
Analyze booking information from customer in order to determine and verify the service requirements, verify the appropriate routes, border crossing points and rates and enter the information in the system.
Works independently to accomplish tasks within scope of job.
Co-ordinates the flow of inbound and outbound freight while staying abreast of daily priorities and weekly transportation targets.
Meet and exceed customer requirements at every stage of the order fulfillment process by assuming responsibility for total customer satisfaction. Being courteous and responsive in all interactions with clients. Ensures the timely resolution of customer inquiries, concerns and problems.
Effectively and efficiently responding to internal and external clients inquiries; resolving any conflicts or problems that might arise; etc
Ensuring all client correspondence maintained up to date, ensuring appropriate electronic copies are uploaded along with milestones.
Work with both Internal and External clients to prepare and present quotes. Maintain quotes in system
Contact carriers in order to confirm equipment, expectations and load details.
Dispatch shipments - Communicate with carriers to monitor freight movement
Milestones UPDATE in Real time environment.
Optimize DSV profit margin as much as possible without compromising service.
Monitor carriers who are unresponsive and inform dispatchers and supervisor of escalated issues
Update our transportation management system and customer websites of real time load locations
Identify problems proactively and develop creative and efficient solutions
Ability to prioritize loads based on importance and delivery date
Communicate any modifications to sales team to update clients
Build strong relationships with the carriers assigned through communication and ongoing monitoring of on time performance.
Resolve issues with the customer and Dedicated Shipment Coordinators as required.
Complete performance reports for all carrier related issues in a timely manner. Notify potential issues to the appropriate parties.
Negotiate any additional charges with carriers. Assist to maintain the accuracy of carrier information.
Ensures that tracking meets established standards but will escalate for resolution as appropriate.
Understand current industry market conditions. Communicate any carrier issues that might impact operations.
Working knowledge of transportation cargo claims, transportation laws and risk management
Keep the Operations Team and Sales updated on significant issues or trends.
Maintaining the confidentiality of client information;
- Maintaining the integrity of shared work files on network system shared programs
Meet KPI standards as per company guidelines.
Collection assistance as required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education and Industry Knowledge
College Diploma / University Degree in Business, Logistics or International Trade preferable
Minimum 5 year experience in a dispatch/customer service role with FTL and LTL experience in a 3PL / non-asset environment.
An understanding of key concepts related to the North American transportation industry including intermodal, highway and temperature controlled operations; not excluding Hazardous goods and safe transportation. Working knowledge of bonded and non-bonded cargo, oversize equipment. Knowledge of Customs Regulations within Nafta region.
Strong knowledge of North American geography including transit schedules.
Technical/Business Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word.
• Working knowledge of transportation management software i.e. Load Link, PC Miler, etc.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
